English Language Programs

English Language Program (ELP) teachers at QUT International College (QUTIC) mark class rolls each period each day. Teachers sign the roll at the end of each teaching day. At the end of each week the rolls are collected by administration staff who then update the attendance spreadsheets for ELP programs.

The ELP Director of Studies reviews the attendance spreadsheets once per week to identify students with unsatisfactory attendance and students at risk of unsatisfactory attendance. Those identified students are then contacted by letter and email and requested to attend an interview to discuss their unsatisfactory (or at-risk) attendance. A record of interview is maintained via an intervention pro forma.

The Director of Studies monitors students’ ongoing attendance and determines when/if it is necessary to notify students of the University’s intention to report unsatisfactory attendance to DIAC. Students are advised of the appeals procedure and their responsibilities as reported students. Where the student has chosen not to access the complaints and appeals processes within the 20 working day period, withdraws from the process, or the process is completed and results in a decision supporting QUT International College, the University will notify the Secretary of Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations(DEEWR) through the Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS) that the student is not achieving satisfactory attendance as soon as practicable.

University Entry Programs (UEP) - Foundation

Teachers of the Foundation Program mark class rolls on an hourly basis during each timetabled teaching session. The teachers sign the roll at the conclusion of each teaching session. At the end of each week the rolls are collected by administration staff who then update the attendance spreadsheets for UEP programs.

The College Director and the Director of Studies (UEP) review the attendance spreadsheets once per week to identify students with unsatisfactory attendance and students at risk of unsatisfactory attendance. Those identified students are then contacted by letter and email and requested to attend an interview to discuss their unsatisfactory (or at-risk) attendance. A record of interview is maintained via an intervention pro forma.
